I have several defaulted student loans from several years ago and I would like to fix this so I can go back and finish my education, how do I go about this?
Without knowing your complete situation, we recommend the following:
1. Contact the loan-holder,
2. Setup a payment plan with your lender;
3. Once you've made on-time payments up to 10 months, the payments will revert to a "repayment status" (back to IR status). Once you've reached this status we recommend consolidation to achieve immediate debt relief (if you haven't done so already, but, you may NOT consolidate twice unless you've taken out additional loans for education)
4. Once you've reached IR status, you may apply for additional funding for education.
5. Once you've completed your additional education, we recommend loan consolidation if its convenient for you. (please be advised loan consolidation is not for everyone)
